Improve-Your-Tennis.com Newsletter---Quick Tips To Develop Your Tennis Further November 13, 2012 |
Dear all, I was talking to a student a few days ago and he asked me how to develop his tennis skills further. He wants to bring his tennis to another level. So how? Here are some of the things that we talked about.
1. Get a coach. A good coach can identify your weaknesses and refine them. He can also further strengthen your good points.
2. Read tennis books to learn some tennis instructions. Even though I coach tennis, I feel that reading tennis books gives you additional information that you may not think of.
3. Watch the pros play. By watching and visualise how you can imitate their strokes can help. It is very common that the TV stations like to play some great shots in slow motion, that is the best moment to see genius at work!
4. Video yourself and analyse your game. Believe me, when you are on video, you can see for yourself all the flaws or habits that you have. It could be just adding leg drive to improve your serve or have a longer back swing to improve your forehand. All these can be seen by videoing yourself playing tennis.
5. Improve your fitness. This is an important aspect of the game. By doing so, you can sustain a longer rally, move quicker to the ball and have better hitting zones or generate more power on your shots etc.
6. Set goals for yourself. This last tip is something that is not commonly done. If you are clear what level you want to progress to or which weakness you want to correct, it is easier for you to work towards to your goals. A lot of recreational players are playing without any purpose so their game is always at the same level. Try to set short term goals so that they are manageable and you are motivated to do it. Trust me, you will see improvement in your game.
Know any other great tips to improve your tennis? Let me know. I will look forward to hear from you.
If you like this information, please share by forwarding it to your friends who are interested in tennis. I hope my tips can help more people to improve their tennis.
